Track onboarding tasks for a new hire
Each new employee gets a checklist built from your onboarding task templates. HR ticks tasks off, and progress shows as a percentage.
The onboarding list
In Employees, open Onboarding. The list shows each employee, their department and progress, with a status of In Progress, Completed, Pending Setup or No Tasks.
Open a new hire's checklist
Select the employee to see Overall Progress and the Checklist Items. Items marked REQUIRED are the ones your template flagged as mandatory. Completed items show Completed on with the date.
If the employee shows No onboarding tasks yet, select Generate Default Tasks.
Where the tasks come from
Tasks come from your company's onboarding task templates. Only active templates for the onboarding stage are used. A template that belongs to a department is added only for employees in that department. A template with no department applies to everyone.
Running Generate Default Tasks again adds only tasks the employee does not already have.
Complete a task
Tick the task when it is done. The system records who completed it and when. Untick it to reopen it.
Progress
Progress is the number of completed tasks divided by all tasks, as a percentage. Required and optional tasks count the same.
Hires from recruitment
When you confirm a hire from the recruitment module, onboarding tasks are assigned at the same time. See Hire an applicant.
Questions people ask
Where do the checklist items come from?
From your company's onboarding task templates. Generate Default Tasks copies the active templates for the onboarding stage onto the employee. A template tied to a department is added only for employees in that department.
Will generating tasks twice create duplicates?
No. A task the employee already has is not added again.
How is progress calculated?
Completed tasks divided by all tasks for the employee, shown as a percentage.
Are tasks created automatically when I hire from recruitment?
Yes. When an applicant is hired, the confirmation says onboarding tasks have been assigned.
